The Straw That Broke Sofia's Back

Early this morning while I was doing my usual Internet browsing, I stopped by Sofia's blog to see the following post:

The Modern Woman in a Single Photo

The "photo" in question, features seven White Women, who seem to be formally dressed for an occasion, possibly a wedding. Ms. Sofia's commentary on the pic was as per usual, acerbic and surprisingly brief:

"A customer forgot this photo at my workplace, and I couldn’t resist sharing it: a group of marginally overweight women in their late 30s to 40s, all wearing mismatching, out of date spinster gowns, and the bride – replete with cropped hair! – is holding a pint. I feel like playing a game of “How many memes about modern women can you spot in a single photo?”"

After reading her blurb above, I then read the accompanying comments - and was deeply offended. But not for the reasons you might think.

No, I'm not mad that Sofia is on the 3,476 tirade against "modern Women", because no matter how she says what she says, she so often has insightful observations to offer about the sign of our times in this regard; there IS something to be said for the "coarsening" - to say nothing of the fattening - of Women in our age. I do not deny this in any way.

What deeply offends me, is her taking potshots at people who never did a thing to her while she hides behind the comfort of her computer, only allowing "sneak peeks" of her visage for her fanboy readers at her blog in order to maximize her attention whoring ways. I'm offended for putting her place of work/business at great potential risk by taking an otherwise private photograph of these Women and putting it on blast before the world in a deeply vain effort to "make a point"; and I'm deeply angered for a reason that Ms. Brown Sugah rightly pointed out this morning:

Women like Sofia do stompdown assholish shit like this, because Men allow them to.

I've noted previously here at the O-Files that I had done peeped Sofia's whole card a long way back - that her major claim to fame in the (White) Manosphere is that she is a relatively young, and relatively hot(?) gal who has imbibed enough of the White Fratboy Koolaide to be one of the gang. And she frequently does the very things she lambastes "modern Women" for all day, everyday - but she gets away with it, because the White boys allow her to - she's "hot", after all.

How many here have read how the (White) Manosphere types bemoan the "coarsening" of Western Women - the attitudes, the potty mouths, and totally unladylike behavior - then turn right around, and take a number in line to swing off of Sofia's left boobie? This shouldn't come as any surprise - after all, anyone who's spent any time at all reading this young lass knows well that she done put the "H" in Hypocrite five times over at this point.

Again, let me be clear. I don't have a problem with Sofia's commentary; I have a problem with the way she went about giving it. She could have found millions of publically accessible pics out there on the Internet, with which to make her point; that she chose to put a private pic on blast - one that came from her job - really says something about who Sofia is, as a human being. What she did was more than just being meanspirited - she's selfish, narcisstic and so incredibly stupid that even the Obsidian is damn near speechless. Sofia likes to present herself, however obliquely, as being "better" than the Feminists she wages her One-Woman crusade against; this episode here proves that she is, in fact, worse than they are.

At the very least, it's a case of water meeting its own level.

I recently discussed Ms. Susan Walsh, owner of the blog Hooking Up Smart; in my view, she is truly a Lady in every sense of the word, and I have told Sofia's "boyfriend"(?) Aaron, as much in extensive offlist conversation recently - indeed, I told Aaron that Sofia's arguments would be so much better received, to say nothing of attracting a wider audience, if she simply started to be a bit more highbrow. Never in a hundred years, could I envision Ms. Walsh doing something like this - again, even if she was right in her points and observations. There is a such thing as propriety, decorum and just plain ole decency - Ms. Walsh (and I am proud to say, Ms. Brown Sugah), have these; Sofia, clearly does NOT.

That no one - including Aaron himself - in the comments thread to said post above, stopped to say, "Whoa, Sofia - is it cool for you to be putting a pic from work on blast like this?", really says it all as to the nature of the people inhabiting the (White) Manosphere today, and I take no pleasure in saying this. Actually, it is deeply saddening to me. And how Aaron can go around as if nothing wrong happened, in light of what went down recently no less, and NOT be ashamed of himself, is beyond me, truly.

What is my point of bringing all this up, you may ask? Simple:

We've been talking a great deal about the Sexual Marketplace, Human Sociosexual Dynamics, and most of all, Game - all of which center on Women, and let's be honest, in their most physical of dimensions. Today's post by Sofia, and Ms. Brown Sugah's insightful observations of it, just drove home to me the utmost and urgent importance of imparting to the students of my Dojo, that there is so much more to a Woman than a Big Booty and a Smile - that if she isn't what King Solomon talked about in the Bible, she's actually quite Hideous of the worst kind.

Remember this, all of you, O-Men: Character, counts. No matter how fine or hot or smokin' she is, if her character stinks, if she acts in a low manner, has a small mind, is a meanie - especially to people who are clearly "less" than she is, she is a Woman who cannot mean any good to you, and you would do well to get rid of her fast. I rarely tell Men who they should get involved with, but I have no truck saying, right now, that such a Woman isn't even fit to be mounted. Just GTFO from around such a Female.

With the quickness.

That's it.

Now adjourn your asses...

O: Yes, "he" is!

"2. I don't know WHO it is but it could be Horus/Horace, my disgruntled ex half-bred boyfriend."

O: So you DO know him? Do tell!

"3. I already told you about Sofia. She has NO BUSINESS criticising other women for being crass and underclass while she does what she does on webcam for the gay internet community."

O: What she does in her private life is of no concern to me or anyone else here.

"4. She's nothing but a NAM trying to get in the good graces of white dudes, even the homos!"

O: Proof of the latter, please?

"5. I believe she's what your folk would call a "self-hater"."

O: Who are my "folk"?

"NOW GOODBYE!"

O: WE CAN HOPE!

Obsidian, in my own mind I bundle the concepts you're talking about into one concept. I think of that concept as "class".

Not socioeconomic class or caste, but a collection of small behaviors and boundaries that elevate (or denigrate) my respect for someone.

You call Susan Walsh a Lady, and I call her a class act. A lot of overlap in those definitions, methinks.

Yuck. A real lady doesn't rip other people up just to get attention or feel better about herself. :(

Excellent post Bro O.

At work there's this hot chic , I just so happened to observe her laughing at my co worker behind his back as he walked to the parking lot with his wife who just so happens to be pretty over weight. I thought what a shallow bish & took her off "the list" post haste.

Wow!! Another amazing post O. That girl Sofia is mean spirited and foul on all sorts of levels for posting that picture. Some people just lack a moral compass!

@Terry,
THANK YOU for pointing that out - either way, be it customer propety or company, Sofia is just DEAD WRONG. She didn't get proper authorization to use it, full stop.

Which again, says something about the kind of human being she is...

Her post said it "was left by a customer." In other words it was private property.

"no, you don't understand, the picture was not of our customers. it just happened to be in our backroom."

O: NO, YOU don't understand - that was company property. YOU, "liberated it" and you were NOT authorized to do so. Those people WOULD have a case against your place of work - not that you give a shit, because as you said, it's only a summertime gig for you - in other words, you don't have any skin in the game. Your comments only reveal just how much you don't get about liability when it comes to running a business. And don't even get me started on just human decency...

As I said, you're a selfish, narcissistic chick who needs to be chin-checked.

You came to the right place.

This was very well said, Obsidian.

If the men of the manosphere excuse unladylike behavior in a woman simply because she's 'hot' or because she agrees with their point of view make it easier for coarse women of opposing view point to continue in their bad behavior uncontested. And they make hypocrites of themselves.

Again, well said.

"one last thing: had i found a comparable pic somewhere else on the internet, it still would have been of people who existed in real life, scanned from someone who also either took or stumbled across the picture. rarely are those viral pics voluntarily offered up from the people in them."

O: Nope, try again: the only fly in the ointment if it was on the Internet, would have been if the pic came from a private site or account, or, if there were clear and present copywrite infringement issues. Otherwise, if the pics were in the public domain, all's fair game.

The problem here, in your case, was the pic, regardless as to its age or how you found it on company property, was in fact not intended for public consumption; indeed, had your own place of work wanted to use those images to promote their own business, they would have had to get releases from all the Women in said pic. You violatin' Sofia, and your attempts to drive your Rationalization Hamster will avail you naught.

But nice try, though!

"to clarify, i found it while i was cleaning out the back room. the pic is more than a few years old, and those were never customers of mine. a customer, presumably, did leave it, but it wouldn't have been any of our customers. i don't think i'm a bad person for posting it, as i could have easily stumbled across it anywhere. also, it's just a summer job, i'm not really too concerned about my future there."

O: Nice try, sis, but no cigar. You're talking to someone who actually knows what it's like to run a business, make payroll, deal with insurance and security issues, inventory, internal and external theft, P & L, you name it. NONE of what you said would fly, IF, one of those Women in that pic decided to make a stink as a result of getting wind of your little stunt. They WOULD have a case, at least insofar as American law is concerned, and from what I hear, things in certain respects are even more stringent up there in the Great White North.

Bottomline: you was outta pocket for taking company property off the job for your own personal use, unauthorized, using said business' clientele to do it, unbeknownst to them. That they, meaning, said business, may not make a big deal out of it doesn't make it right, and in truth they stand to lose a heck of a lot should this thing get out.

Like I said, this whole episode, among a great many others, just says a tremendous deal about you.

And that, in the words of the late-great Tupac Shakur, is why they call you a bitch.
